Based in the UAE, the Palestinian-Jordanian artist works across installation, sculpture and interdisciplinary practices. Her work explores permanence, preservation and environmental memory, with a focus on materiality and documenting changing landscapes. She is associated with UAE art institutions including Tashkeel and is actively engaged in public art programming.
El Abora was co-winner of The Christo & Jeanne-Claude Award 2023, presented by Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation in partnership with NYU Abu Dhabi, for Shaheeq, an environmental installation inspired by UAE mangrove ecosystems. Exploring sustainability and climate change through materials including soil, sand and clay, the work was exhibited at Abu Dhabi Art, NYU Abu Dhabi and Umm Al Emarat Park.
She contributes to public engagement initiatives including the Slow Art Walk at Alserkal Avenue. Her work reflects a growing generation of artists addressing environmental and cultural narratives through research-driven, material-based practices.
