Kick-starting his career with his award-winning student documentary The Gamboo3a Revolution (2012), Abdulrahman Al Madani later moved into narrative filmmaking with Guilt (2013) and the anti-bullying drama Nagafa (2014), which gained more than seven million views on YouTube. After graduating in Applied Media from Higher Colleges of Technology in 2014, he obtained a filmmaking diploma from New York Film Academy in 2015, where his thesis film Beshkara premiered at Dubai International Film Festival.
In 2019, Al Madani received a production grant from Sharjah Art Foundation for Laymoon (2019), followed by The Monster (2021), exploring domestic violence. In 2024, he received the UAE Ministry of Culture grant for his film Oug (2025), which later won the Gulf Capital – ADMAF Visual Arts Award 2025. The film explores social and cultural themes within Emirati society through the story of a couple navigating family expectations and societal pressures surrounding marriage and parenthood.
